PDZ domains, long known for their roles in scaffolding and synaptic organization, have also been identified more recently as domains found in various tumor suppressor proteins. I am working to develop in vitro and cellular assays to identify which PDZ domains may be targeted during oncogenesis, and conversely, which PDZ domains could be disrupted to elicit temporary anti-apoptotic/pro-survival responses.
